HEALING IN HOSPITALS

Sandy Edwards has been a volunteer healer at Good Hope Hospital since 2007, working alongside a senior consultant in the gastroenterology department. In 2000, Sandy had set up the Natural Healing Group in Rushall (now in Aldridge) and, unknown to her, this consultant had directed some of his patients to our group. The feedback he gained from them was sufficiently positive for him to introduce healing at his weekly clinic at Good Hope, Soon after beginning work there, Sandy conducted pilot studies of the patients' responses. The first was an audit of 75 patients and the second was an audit of 192 patients. This work led to the Lottery providing a research grant of £205,000 to discover whether hospital patients benefited from healing sessions.
